Upgrading research infrastructure RIUM

Research for a better future

Upgrading research infrastructure RIUM

RIUM is a directly approved project based on the call of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, Science and Innovation, which is pursuing the overall vision of international competitiveness of research, innovations and technological development, in accordance with the fields of the Smart Specialization Strategy of Slovenia (S4).

Through the investment in upgrading research infrastructure (RIUM), we create conditions for using state-of-the-art scientific research equipment according to the open access principle for university and other researchers, with the aim of performing high-quality research work, increasing the cooperation in development and research projects as well as ensuring broader development of specific staff by providing a wide availability for educational and training purposes.

Basic data on the operation:

  • Upgrading national research infrastructures − RIUM.
  • Co-funding in the amount of EUR 28.864.416,31 with a 80% share of the European Union’s contribution from the European Regional Development Fund and a 20% contribution of the Slovenian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
  • Duration of operation in the period from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2023.

As part of the project, research infrastructure is updated in research fields having a breakthrough potential and supporting development of knowledge significant for UM development. We perceive that the needs of researchers for research equipment are significantly larger, therefore, we are planning an upgrade through the investment projects RIUM 2 and INNOVUM.

In the context of intangibles, a software tool was purchased – National Instruments ASL+, LabVIEW and Multisim. The specified licensed software within the project enables capturing and processing various measurement data.
