Protection of personal data

The University of Maribor is processing and protecting personal data of natural persons in accordance with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (OJ L 119, 4 May 2016, pp. 1–88; hereinafter: General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR), the Personal Data Protection Act (Official Gazette the Republic of Slovenia, No. 163/22; hereinafter: ZVOP-2) and in line with other national and internal legal acts.

As personal data controller, the University of Maribor is aware of the importance of a natural person’ privacy and is committed to the protection of personal data. With the aim of implementing the principle of fair and transparent processing of personal data, we have prepared a collection of general information on the protection of personal data at the University of Maribor, which includes basic information on the processing of personal data, such as data on the controller and the authorised person for the protection of personal data, information on the purpose, data users, storage period as well as information on the legal basis and the rights of natural persons.

With the aim of ensuring compliance of personal data protection with the applicable legislation and other regulations, case-law and the views of the Information Commissioner, the University of Maribor is regularly updating the content of the provided information regarding the protection of personal data. In case of substantial changes, the University of Maribor will inform all students and employees by e-mail and publish a special notification on the website. General information on the protection of personal data was last updated on 1 February 2023.
