At the session of the Senate of the University of Maribor, the members gave a positive opinion on the appointment of prof. dr. Dean Korošak as the Vice-Rector for Science and Research of the University of Maribor for a four-year mandate, namely from 5 July 2022 to 4 July 2026.

Prof. dr. Korošak is a Full Professor and Head of the Chair for Applied Physics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor. He has considerable experience in scientific research, from scientific research work and conducting fundamental and applied research in physics and biomedicine to working with early-stage researchers and doctoral candidates as well as managing national and international projects. He actively participated in the design of the concept and development of IOT UM “Innovative Open Technologies”, the predecessor of the INNOVUM project. He perceives scientific research and artistic creation as global activities that are not limited with local geography and require common research and artistic work as well as joint publications or other research activities. He supports scientific engagement and publishing in line with open science principles, which means that research results are freely available to the public.
