In the past year, all European Union member states and the European Commission agreed to renovate the European Research Area (ERA).The common thread in such advancement of the innovation and research ecosystem in Europe is the change to open science through the establishment of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

At the end of last year, Slovenia passed the new Scientific Research and Innovation Activities Act, which enables carrying out scientific research and innovation activities according to the open science principles. This calls for the adjustment of allocated funds.

To support research organizations transition to working according to the principles of open science, the Slovenian Scientific Research and Innovation Strategy 2030 called for the establishment of a national open science community. The Open Science Day 2022 conference represents one of the initial acts in putting together the Slovenian Open Science Community.

The Open Science Day event brings together key shareholders: EOSC Association, European Commission, Slovenian players that create policies, funders and the Slovenian Open Science Community (SSOZ). The event is part of the tripartite events series endorsed by the European Commission, the EOSC Association and the EOSC Steering Board, which represents member and associated member EU states.

The event will host discussions on ERA’s commitments and begin to pave the way to the harmonized advancement of the Slovenian research area within the context of open science and European guidelines, as well as provide a stepping stone to establishing a network of decision-makers, scientists, and service providers. The goal of this is to build an encouraging research environment which will provide results in line with the FAIR principles.

You are cordially invited to sign up for the event. Registration to attend the conference onsite is obligatory and limited, as there is a maximum number of attendees. The event will also be streamed.
