Key events and ceremonies celebrating the jubilee of the University of Maribor will take place from 15 to 19 September 2025.
15 September 2025: Presentation of the Scientific Monograph
A scientific monograph published to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University of Maribor will comprehensively highlight the University’s development milestones, achievements, and its role in both the Slovenian and international research landscape.
15 September 2025: Presentation of the Commemorative Postage Stamp – 50 Years of the University of Maribor
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the University of Maribor, Pošta Slovenije will issue and present a special postage stamp that symbolizes the University’s half-century tradition, scientific accomplishments, and its contribution to societal development.
15 September 2025: Announcement of the Best Student of the University of Maribor
Each year, the University of Maribor selects and announces the best student—one whose outstanding academic performance and social engagement stand out among students of all its faculties.
16 September 2025: Formal Promotion Ceremony for Doctoral Graduates of the University of Maribor
At the formal promotion ceremony, the University will honour its new doctoral graduates, whose research enriches the scientific community and significantly contributes to the development and reputation of the University.
17 September 2025: University of Maribor Day
On University Day, the highest recognitions will be awarded to students, individuals, and companies for their contributions to strengthening the University. The honorary titles of Professor Emeritus and Honorary Doctor will also be formally conferred.
18 September 2025: Gala Evening in Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the University of Maribor
A gala evening dedicated to celebrating the University’s 50-year journey will feature a rich artistic programme, honouring past achievements and acknowledging all those who have contributed to the University’s success and recognition at home and abroad.
19 September 2025: International Conference on European Universities
As the presiding institution of the ATHENA European University alliance, the University of Maribor will host an international conference addressing highly relevant topics in the field of the European Higher Education Area.
