A delegation of the Beijing International Studies University, led by prof. dr. Xiaoyuan Gu, visited the University of Maribor. The delegation was welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Quality, Human Resources and Legal Matters of the University of Maribor prof. dr. Janja Hojnik as well as the representatives of the Faculty of Arts, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation doc. dr. Tomaž Onič and dr. Brigita Kacjan.
Discussed were the arrangements for cooperation and the delegation particularly highlighted the possibility of teaching Slovenian language at this University. The Beijing International Studies University is namely providing study courses for no less than 12 Central European languages, since 2016 also for Slovene. Currently, it is studied by 26 students, 16 at masters and 10 at undergraduate level. They cooperate with recognised Universities in Europe, such as Charles University in Prague, the Vilnius University and the University of Belgrade. During the visit, the delegation expressed the wish to enter into cooperation with the University of Maribor.
