Since 2002, Marina Tavčar Krajnc, doctor of Social Sciences and an assistant Professor of Sociology, is employed at the University of Maribor as a university teacher. She teaches in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Maribor. The narrower scope of her scientific and professional activity encompasses sociology of education, gender studies, sociology of youth and didactics of sociology. In the academic year 2017/2018, she was the convenor of nine courses under the first- and second-cycle study programmes as well as the convenor of one course under the doctoral study programme in Sociology. The results of her pedagogical work are shown in numerous supervisions of undergraduate theses (54 supervisions), among which one was awarded with the Perlach Award (2009) at the University of Maribor and one with a national prize, awarded by the National Youth Council of Slovenia (2011). In the years 2014-2018 she was the supervisor of 9 master's and 1 doctor's degree (2016).
Her scientific and professional bibliography in the period 1998-2018 encompasses 112 units, among them 16 scientific papers, 9 independent chapters in scientific monographs and co-authorship of a scientific monograph, 27 publications at international conferences home and abroad (Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Russia, Israel, Croatia, Switzerland, Spain) as well as lectures at foreign universities (Poland and Australia). She is also the co-author of the White paper on education in the Republic of Slovenia (2011). She participated in a number of research projects and since 2018, she is involved in the project Cultural participation of young people in Slovenia in Europe: An analysis of trends, determinants, consequences and a proposal of solutions, which is being implemented at the Faculty of Arts and funded by ARRS. From 2009 to 2015, she acted as the head of the Department of Sociology and in the mandate period 2015-2018 she was the Vice-Dean for Education at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Maribor. Since 2008, she is the president of the National Committee for Sociology at the General Matura and the qualified expert for Sociology. She is a member of the Slovene Sociological Association, coordinating its Section for Sociology of Education.
