Call for application into Postgraduate Study Programmes of UM 2013/14

 
On the basis of article 40 of the Higher Education Act (Official Gazette of the  Republic of Slovenia, No. 32/2012), the decision of the Senate of University of Maribor and obtained concordance from the government of the Republic of Slovenia

CALL FOR ENROLLMENT INTO POSTGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMMES IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014
 
 
 
PROCEDURES AND DEADLINES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS AND ENROLLMENT:
 
 
In academic year 2013/2014 candidates can apply for 2nd degree study programmes (Masters) and 3rd degree study programmes (Ph.D.), offered by the University of Maribor members. Detailed information can be found at www.um.si.
 
 
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS AND ENROLLMENT OF CANDIDATES
 
Candidates can submit their application for enrollment into postgraduate study programmes to the relevant faculty of University of Maribor from Monday June 10th 2013 and the latest until September 2nd 2013.
 
If for offered study programmes no enrollment limitation will be set, candidates can also apply after the deadline, but the latest till the date, set by faculties in the information system eVŠ, so they can still carry out the application procedure in time. Information on which faculty will extend the deadline will be posted after September 5th at the UM webpage.
 
The same deadline applies for candidates, who want to enroll considering regulations for transition between study programmes and foreigners and Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship.
 
 
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
 
An application for enrollment must contain an application and proof of fulfilled admission requirements  for enrollment into 2nd degree study programmes and 3rd degree study programmes, that are specified in the call for enrollment for an individual study programme.
 
All candidates must submit an electronic application on web portal eVŠ, which can be found at 
http://portal.evs.gov.si/prijava/?locale=en (application is available in english language). Candidates can contact evs-prijava.mvzt@gov.si for additional help with filling out the application.
 
If a candidate is applying with a digital certificate, he doesn't need to submit a form by mail. A timely submitted application is an application, which is filed, electronically signed and submitted according to the deadline, set by this call.
 
If a candidate is applying without a digital certificate  (with a username and password), the application form must be electronically sent to eVŠ, printed out, signed and sent by mail to the address of the faculty, where the study programme is carried out, following the deadline. A timely submitted application is an application, which is filled out in eVŠ, printed with the same text as the text filed in the eVŠ form, signed and sent to the faculty according to the deadline set by this call.
 
Regardless of the way of applying, candidates must send enclosures to the application by mail or in person, according to the call, to the faculty, where the study programme is carried out.      
 

ENROLLMENT SLOTS 
 
Candidates apply for enrollment slots that are specified for each study programme with the call for enrollment. Candidates who wish to study under two 2nd degree study programmes simultaneously are intended for special enrollment slots. To those slots can also apply foreigners and Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship.
 
If the number of applied students surpasses the number of enrollment places, an enrollment limitation is set. Candidates will be chose in a selection procedure. Information on study programmes with an enrollment limitation will be available on web pages of faculties.
 
Candidates who have applied for the study programme, for which it will be decided that it will not be implemented due to insufficient number of applications, will be notified no later than Monday September 9th 2013. On this basis, candidates will have the option of submitting the application to another study programme at the University of Maribor until the deadline, set by the faculty. 
 
 
ENROLLMENT DEADLINE
 
Enrollment into postgraduate study programmes will be carried out at the latest until Monday, September 30th 2013, for justifiable reasons and with a written application and decided by the appropriate faculty body, the latest until October 30th 2013.
 
 
ENROLLMENT ACCORDING TO TRANSFER CRITERIA 
 
Enrollment according to transfer criteria means stopping a student’s education at one study programme which a student is enrolled in and continues the education at a new study programme. Some obligations are acknowledged and new obligations, that need to be fulfilled to finish the new study programme, are determined. A transfer doesn’t mean changing the study programme or study programme option because of unfinished obligations at the previous study programme or study programme option.
 
According to transfer criteria, students can advance to next year of enrolled study programme in the case when the new study programme at the end of study, enables comparable competences and when after criteria for recognition, we can recognize to a student at least half of his obligations after ECTS from his first study programme, that refer to obligatory courses from the second study programme.  
 
Enrollment according to transfer criteria is possible in accordance with an accredited study programmes. Transfer at 2nd and 3rd cycle study programmes is possible from other 2nd and 3rd cycle study programmes of appropriate fields, set by the study programme, if the student fulfills enrollment conditions of the new study programme and there are sufficient enrollment places available.
 
Transfer criteria enrollment places for full-time study of separate year is limited with the number of all places for 1st year of study of each generation of students.
 
 
ENROLLMENT OF FOREIGNERS AND SLOVENIANS WITHOUT SLOVENIAN CITIZENSHIP
 
Foreigners and Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship can enroll into postgraduate study programmes in accordance with the Rules on tuition and living in dormitories for Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship and foreigners in the Republic of Slovenia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 70/2008).  Candidates can apply for enrollment slots published in tables with enrolment slots for Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship and foreign citizens of non-European Union countries. Candidates must in addition to evidence mentioned above, together with their application, submit the decision on recognition of secondary school education. If they don’t have a decision yet, they send their applications (N form) for the recognition procedure to: University of Maribor, Office for General and Legal Affairs (marked: Recognition of foreign education), Slomškov trg 15, 2000 Maribor. Foreigners and Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship are recommended to begin the process of recognition in a timely manner. The deadline for issuing a decision on the recognition under the Act on the Recognition and Assessment of Education (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 87/2011 and Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 97/2011 - corr.) is two months from the receipt of complete application.
  
 
STUDENTS WITH AN AQUIRED EDUCATION, RANKED INTO 2ND CYCLE BOLOGNA STUDY AFTER KLASIUS CLASSIFFICATION
 
According to decree for financing higher education institutions candidates, who already achieved an education ranked at least 2nd cycle Bologna study after KLASIUS classification, are not entitled to a 2nd cycle study from public founding.
 
 
PHD STUDY
 
According to article 136 a of the UM Statute it is advised that candidates before enrollment make contacts with potential mentors and have a draft of their doctoral dissertation or chosen specific field of doctoral interest.  
 

ALREADY ENROLLED STUDENTS
 
Students, who wish to change the study programme and have not yet taken advantage of that right or of the right to repeat a year under full time programmes, should apply like other candidates.
 
  
PARALLEL STUDY
 
Successful students, who fulfill advancing conditions into next year and have an average mark eight (8) after first complete year of study, can the senate study commission of the faculty member enable a parallel study at two or more study programmes, performed by one or more UM faculties.
